Sprint 2 – First day of production

13th February 2020

Today we started the first day of production. This morning I have been doing research on snowy landscapes and what they contain. For example, I did research on trees that survive in winter and we have decided to make two types of trees to populate the environment of our game. A fir tree and a Spruce tree. These are below:

I have also been working on a mountain. I created a high poly version of this in Maya, then used quad draw to create a low poly version. I then imported the low poly version into 3d Coat and used the paint tool to paint each individual face how I wanted it to look. Below is an image of that:

I have then imported these into Unreal and have been blocking out a basic level using things from the first sprint such as the snow particle system and grass etc.

I also tried to make a snow trail system in which the players footsteps would be seen in as they walked, however, it didn’t end up working so I need to sort that out as it has wasted quite a bit of time I could’ve used doing other things.
